Make VoIP Work For You!
The NEC 2000 IPS can utilise VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) in many different ways. Here are many ways in which you can usefully utilise VoIP on your NEC 2000 IPS:
- If you have limited cable infrastructure in your premises, IP DTERMs are useful because they can use the same cable connection as your wire-networked computer. The IP DTERM sits inline between the PC and the wall socket and allows you to provide a phone point where normally you could need an entire new cable run.
- If you work from home, or remotely outside the office, installing an IP Softphone on your computer can provide you with an internal extension where-ever you have VPN access back into your office. The IP Softphone uses a USB handset or headset, and software on screen to simulate all the functions of your NEC DTERM. You can also use this in conjunction with a Zeacom CTI installation, such as Desktop for a feature rich voice solution.
- If you have a hardware VPN connection to your office location (usually using a DSL router or firewall), you can plug in an IP DTERM at home and have it run as if it were sat in your office.
- Using VOIP you can interconnect NEC IPS systems in a variety of ways. This means you can make calls between offices for nothing, using an existing WAN (wide area network).
