Default assistance

Let me start off by saying reading post on this site over the last 2 years have helped me a lot with the old phone switch, but I am really a complete Noob on most things with the switch so here is my dilemma.

I have two phone lines that are some how crossed or broken and I am at my wits end to find a solution:

Line one: 708 -->VIRT 508
Line two: 770 -->VIRT 570
Voicemail is 788

If I am on 708 and get a second call it will ring 508 as expected but 508 will also ring in another office in place of VIRT 570. So if I am on the phone and I get second call my second line will call me and my customer manager at the same time.

Her Virt line 570 never picks up, so if she is on the phone and she gets a second call it’s lost in to the void. I can call 570 directly and it will ring a few times and kick out to our Main phone line. So her VIRT line never works and mine rings her desk and mine at the same time.

In the MOC it looks like this
E601> 708:508
E602> 708:788
E603> 708:508
E601> 770:570
E602> 770:788
E603> 770:570
All of the Virt lines point to 788

Some how my VIRT line is linked to hers and her virt line is lost in space but the only place I know to look says it’s correct. And I just do no know where else to look.

Thank you in advance if you have any ideas

Chris

I've read your post about 3 times and I still can't get my head around it!

Sounds like you have 'group call' or some other forwarding in the system somewhere. Tell me what you're trying to achieve and I'll say how I would do it. You should also state E600 for the extensions you mention.

You have probably solved this by now but I have just joined the forum, so just incase....

You should be confirming first what is programmed on the soft keys as this sounds like an incorrect line appearance on 770, the key which should be 570 is probably set as 508.

actually... I havent solved it.

I am not even sure what the soft keys are much less how to see what is programmed to them.

I know both of my lines seem to have no call forward under the e600. But I don't know why my phone rings in to her office when I am on the line instead of going to my voicemail.

Ok the phones have programmable keys, the standard here (OZ) is that the first key (top left) is the key that lights up when you pick up the handset (on more recent phones there is an additional row of "soft" keys the values of which change according to the state of the phone, but we'll get to that later!) Now I need to know which key lights up.......No strike that, let's just get into programming and work it out from there! you need command 9000, the format is command 9000 de (extension number) , (key number) de. If you aren't sure how to enter any of the above, see here (but note that the comma between the brackets above is entered into the system and isn't just used for punctuation)....

http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=6315

(de is manual speak for data entry, get used to it as it is the easiest way of telling people how to enter commands).

You can then use the enter key to step through how each key on the phone is programmed! By looking at your own phone's settings you will be able to work out which is which! If you don't have a manual then depending on what system you have, you may find a command manual here....

http://www.wedophones.com/NecManualsLead.htm

However having looked at your own extension, you should be able to work out which is your "prime" line and which is your virtual. Having done that, try looking at the other extension and I think you will find, the key that should be it's virtual is programmed as your virtual! You simply need to change that key to it's correct setting!

If I haven't been clear enough just post back and I will clarify further!

I have some softkey scripts somewhere I could post up - I set them up a few years ago with 4 different classes or whatever with MUCH more useful functions - especially context sensitive features like divert ringing phone to voicemail would only show when the phone was ringing, or call voicemail (often a common problem - users expect the phone to go off hook and ring voicemail, but you actually have to take it off hook first).

They had classes setup for normal voicemail users, agents, supervisors. The biggest asset when combined with Zeacom is that you can put voicemail modes as softkeys when the phone is idle (so Day, Night, Holiday, Meeting buttons on the display to instantly set their voicemail mode/profile, rather than going through some long-winded key sequence in their voicemail options to change mode/profile).

Let me know if they're of interest cos I can post them up somewhere.

No! I'm not suggesting it is an issue with the "softkeys"! I'm saying it is the linekeys Hence the use of Command 9000! I tried to use the term softkeys because people who don't normally work on these systems understand the concept of a programmable key better when this term is used. Obviously a mistake on my part!

Default woo hoo

R4+Z you are the man!

It took me a while to figure out exactly what I was looking for with the 9000 but finally I got to 9000,15 and there it was. You were exactly correct her 9000,15 was set to my Virt line so that if I had a call fail over it would ring us both.

Sweet! 2 years old problem solved at last.
